Black Honey has released a new single titled ‘Insulin,’ which premiered this afternoon on BBC 6 Music. This pop-rock track serves as an enticing third preview of their upcoming fourth album, ‘Soak,’ set to be released on 15th August, following their two recent hits, ‘Psycho’ and ‘Dead.’ According to vocalist Izzy B Phillips, ‘Insulin’ was written in a pure stream of consciousness: “For ‘Insulin,’ I aimed to delve into themes of tension, romantic dysregulation, and the feeling of imbalance in your mental and physical chemistry,” she explained. Initially, the title was merely a placeholder, but Phillips later felt it was fitting for the song. “When I first thought of the word ‘insulin,’ I didn’t think it was quite right—perhaps I was leaning more towards serotonin—but then I learned it’s a hormone present in everyone that regulates blood sugar and is influenced by emotional wellbeing. It turned out to be accidentally accurate, so I kept it.” The band will embark on an album release tour to promote ‘Soak,’ visiting venues in cities such as London, Liverpool, and their hometown of Brighton, among others.
