The Eastbourne-based band CHUB has unveiled their latest single, ‘Microwave Dave’.
The South Coast group's new anthem is a high-energy crowd favorite – a self-described blend of metal-infused party punk that captures the communal essence of UK drinking culture and the camaraderie among band members: Ben (vocals), Kyle (drums), Greg (guitar, vocals), and Zakk (bass, vocals).
In ‘Microwave Dave’, CHUB pays tribute to a local Wetherspoons legend, although his backstory may be more fictional than factual. “‘Dave’ holds a special place in our hearts – it closes out every one of our shows, and regardless of how wild the crowd gets during the night, they always seem to find the energy to go completely wild for it. It's raw and energetic, offering commentary on British drinking culture and life in general, while maintaining a light-hearted and playful tone. Rest in peace, Dave!”
Emerging from long-lasting friendships, inspired by beer bongs and circle pits, and influenced by the chaos of a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack, CHUB was formed in 2019 in the peaceful seaside town of Eastbourne.
After making their festival debut at Rebellion and selling out shows throughout Brighton, CHUB solidified their reputation with a series of exciting singles. A recent tour through the South of England showcased their early potential, but it was their performance at Bloodstock Festival that confirmed CHUB is an emerging talent.
