Jasmine.4.t has recently released a new EP with all proceeds benefiting the UK charity AKT.
The Manchester-based artist kicked off the year impressively, receiving significant critical recognition for her debut album ‘You Are The Morning’. Released under Phoebe Bridgers’ label, Saddest Factory Records, the album is a poignant, often uplifting collection of songs that highlight queer and trans experiences.
Scheduled to support Lucy Dacus on a significant UK tour, jasmine.4.t has taken a moment to release a special new EP.
This EP, available on Bandcamp until the end of June, includes three acoustic versions of standout tracks from her debut album, perfectly showcasing jasmine.4.t’s approach to music.
All proceeds from the EP will go to AKT, a charity dedicated to ensuring that every LGBTQ+ individual aged 16-25 who encounters homelessness or a hostile living situation has access to a safe place to stay.
Jasmine.4.t states...
These acoustic renditions were the last three tracks I recorded on my Fostex four-track tape machine before it broke beyond repair. We included them as bonus tracks on the Japanese edition of my album ‘You Are the Morning’. Initially, we planned to use the original demos that led to my signing with Phoebe, but my voice has changed considerably since then, and I wanted to recreate them in the same style: with two vocal tracks and two guitar tracks recorded in my bedroom on tape.
‘You Are The Morning’ is an album about queer love, hope, and solidarity, and I wanted to share these tracks in that same spirit. All funds from these new versions will be donated to AKT, a charity in the UK that assists young LGBTQIA+ individuals facing housing crises. During the writing of these songs, I experienced homelessness and relied on the kindness of Manchester’s queer community, which became my family and the inspiration for my album. This is a wonderful full circle moment for me, as I now have the opportunity to give back. Thank you all for your support. I love you.
