Listen to the new double single, 'Lawdy Rolla' and 'Pinball'.
Paul Weller will be releasing ‘Find El Dorado’, a new album of reinterpretations, on July 25th.
This album marks the return of the iconic British punk rock figure to Parlophone Records, the label responsible for his praised projects from 2015 to 2019, including 2018’s ‘True Meanings’.
Drawing from a lifetime of music, Weller reexamines and reimagines songs that have long resonated with him. “These are songs I’ve held onto for years,” Weller shares. “They’ve transformed over time. It felt like the right time to present them.”
‘Find El Dorado’ is more of a personal map reflecting Weller’s emotional and musical essence rather than just a covers album. It features intimate arrangements and notable collaborations with artists such as Hannah Peel, Declan O’Rourke, Robert Plant, Seckou Keita, Amelia Coburn and Noel Gallagher.
In conjunction with the album announcement, Weller releases ‘Lawdy Rolla’, originally created by the little-known French studio band The Guerrillas, which included the African jazz musician Manu Dibango. The second track is Brian Protheroe’s hit ‘Pinball’, now reimagined with a striking saxophone performance by Jacko Peake.
This is Weller’s most introspective work, providing listeners with a rare insight into the music that shaped him, and a reminder that great songs don’t age; they simply evolve.
