The new album ‘Juniper’ by Joy Crookes is set to be released on September 26th.
The UK artist recently hosted a fan event where she delivered an intimate performance at a pub she loves in East London. During this event, Joy shared the exciting news about her upcoming album.
This new project follows her immensely successful debut album ‘Skin’ and is described as “more nuanced” with a strong emotional depth—“every situation is visceral and I’m very much in it. It’s me in the center of it all.”
The album, featuring a stripped-back writing style, has been produced by Joy's long-time collaborators, including Blue May (Kano, Jorja Smith), Tev’n (Stormzy), and Harvey Grant (Arlo Parks), and will be released on September 26th.
Several singles have already been released ahead of the album, featuring collaborations with Vince Staples on ‘Pass The Salt’ and Kano on ‘Mathematics’.
The songs were inspired by a time of personal challenges for Crookes, including a mental health crisis that influenced the album's development. “I was in the trenches,” she explains. “But the studio became my refuge. What you hear is live and direct from that period.”
