Pendulum Announces New Album 'Inertia' – Their First Release in 15 Years

Pendulum is set to release their new album ‘Inertia’ later this year.

This upcoming album marks the group's first release in 15 years and fully integrates their breakbeat-driven electronic sound within an alternative setting. Scheduled for release on August 22nd through Mushroom Music, it comprises 16 tracks and has taken five years to complete.

Recording sessions for the album commenced in 2020, after which Pendulum toured globally and produced two EPs: ‘Elemental’ in 2021 and ‘Anima’ in 2023.

The album features collaborations with Bullet For My Valentine, Wargasm, AWOLNATION, Scarlxrd, Joey Valence & Brae, and Hybrid Minds.

Rob Swire, a member of the group, shared, “I was essentially testing the limits of Pendulum, exploring what we could achieve. I always viewed The Prodigy as the standard. They began with pure rave – breakbeat, hardcore – but transformed into their unique sound. Now, they aren’t even primarily associated with breakbeat; they simply are The Prodigy.”

He described the record as “the sound of Pendulum rediscovering themselves, and me figuring out my own identity to a degree. Breakups have that effect – they strip everything away and reveal who you truly are. I’m just trying to avoid being the person who needs to experience one to make music.”

Their new single ‘Save The Cat’ is available now, showcasing a powerful piece of alternative chaos that remains connected to their drum and bass roots. The lyrics address a breakup and the ensuing feelings of self-doubt, ultimately leading to redemption.

Rob Swire explained the creation of the single: “It was crafted during a time of self-reflection and frustration. I realized that love was something I no longer fully trusted myself with.”
