Emerging from London, the four-piece band Speedial has unveiled their first EP, ‘Light Of The Late Night’.
The band appears to enjoy deconstructing familiar tropes, reveling in the unexplored potential within. Drawing from a post-rock perspective reminiscent of the Chicago scene – think Tortoise and beyond – they blend these influences with elements of noise rock and shoegaze.
Vocalists Serena Garrod and Millie Kirby combine these concepts, accompanied by saxophonist Monarch Vavrechka and talented drummer Joe William Killick.
Produced by Joseph Futak (Tapir!, lilo), Speedial’s debut EP is a fusion of ideas, a hub of creativity. With four tracks that feel sharp and often bold, the EP will be showcased at a special event tonight – May 26th – at the Brixton Windmill.
It is definitely worth experiencing in its entirety. Regarding their debut EP, Speedial states...
“Our lyrics delve into topics of self-image/villainy, longing, and mental challenges, alongside opposing concepts like retaliation/acceptance and isolation/suffocation. We aimed for these themes to enhance the complexity and atmospheric richness of our instrumentals.”
Tune in now.
