The new album ‘Blue Reminder’ by Hand Habits will be released on August 22nd.
This project showcases the musical talent of Meg Duffy, an artist whose work has been highly respected by fellow musicians. The 2021 album ‘Fun House’ marked a significant milestone, leading to an extensive period of international performances for Hand Habits.
In 2023, a six-track EP was released, and Meg Duffy is now finalizing their next full-length project.
Set to drop on August 22nd through Fat Possum, ‘Blue Reminder’ was produced with Joseph Lorge, while Meg Duffy took charge of the creative direction. The album also features an interesting lineup of collaborators, including Alan Wyffels, Gregory Uhlmann, Olivia Kaplan, Blake Mills, Tim Carr, Daniel Aged, as well as Joshua Johnson and Anna Butters from SML.
The new track ‘Wheel Of Change’ sees Meg Duffy embracing growth in both personal and artistic contexts.
“Lyrically and in its production, this song addresses the impossibility of going back—you can’t return to the past, regardless of how much you wish to cling to a moment, a feeling, or a person,” Duffy elaborates. “There’s an element of desperation in the lyrics (“I need it now more than ever”), but there’s also a plea, “don’t take it away just yet,” which isn’t posed as a question but rather as a firm request. I aimed for the production to convey that urgency. In yearning, there can be a sharper, wilder intensity. Like, no, I need this, give it to me, don’t take it away.”
