Nearly three years after the release of her previous album, King Princess has announced details about her upcoming third album, ‘Girl Violence’. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the New York artist, as it will be her first album under her new label, section1. Scheduled for release on September 12, the album is described in the press release as “the sound of Straus picking up the pieces after her world fell apart”. For this project, she collaborated with Jake Portrait (known for working with Lil Yachty, Alex G, Unknown Mortal Orchestra) and Aire Atlantica (notable for SZA’s ‘Low’), and it will feature thirteen tracks.
In addition to announcing her latest project, Mikaela has released the lead single, ‘RIP KP’, which she describes as “about the sexy side of girl violence - when love overtakes your brain like a cordyceps and suddenly, you’re getting wild all over your house, acting foolish.” She continues, “It’s the ideal way to start the album: dramatic, unhinged, and slightly tongue-in-cheek. I wrote it during a period of complete ego death - leaving LA, my label, my old life - and somehow found myself back in NYC, creating music I would’ve obsessed over at 15. It’s a raunchy anthem for the lesbians. We need some hedonism this summer.”
Currently, Mikaela is starring in the new series of Nicole Kidman's drama ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ and is set to embark on a major tour across North America and Europe later this year in support of her new album.
