Confusion surrounds the schedule...
The BBC has unveiled its preliminary broadcasting timetable – and Neil Young’s headline act is absent.
The iconic songwriter is set to headline Glastonbury on Saturday night, but he initially withdrew just days after the January announcement. In a message on his Archives website, the Canadian artist indicated that his decision stemmed from the BBC's partnership, which made the event feel “a corporate turn-off.”
“We were excited to play Glastonbury, one of my favorite outdoor festivals. However, we were informed that BBC had become a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to engage in ways we weren’t interested in,” his statement expressed.
“It appears Glastonbury is now under corporate influence and is not how I recall it. Thank you for seeing us last time! We will not be performing at Glastonbury on this tour because it feels like a corporate turn-off, unlike how it used to be.”
A swift reversal occurred, with Neil Young attributing it to “an error” in the information he was provided.
The complete BBC schedule is now accessible, outlining which artists will and will not be featured in their extensive coverage.
Neil Young’s name is absent – has he arranged for his headline performance to be broadcasted?
A BBC spokesperson informed NME: "We strive to present audiences with as many performances as we can from the Pyramid Stage, and our schedules and plans are still being finalized, even during the festival.”
