As part of its significant year as UK City of Culture, Bradford 2025 has collaborated with Dialled In and Serious to introduce Summer Sounds, a new two-day music festival set in the beautiful Cliffe Castle Park, Keighley, on Saturday, August 2nd, and Sunday, August 3rd.
The festival will be headlined by Asha Puthli – the groundbreaking Indian singer-songwriter, producer, and actress, whose unique fusion of spacey jazz, disco, and psychedelia has gained a worldwide following.
Co-produced by Dialled In, Bradford 2025, and Serious, Summer Sounds honors international innovators, boundary-breaking artists, and local talents, connecting diverse generations, genres, and cultures across two days of live music and community celebration.
On Saturday, Puthli will share the stage with the legendary Balochi Benju musician Ustad Noor Bakhsh and pioneers of the contemporary British Asian music scene, Metz n Trix. Ganavya will present her ethereal combination of South Asian classical music and spiritual jazz, while Fun'Da'Mental’s Inder Goldfinger will showcase a back-to-back set with Silverfinger Singh. Additionally, BBC Asian Network DJs Manara and Kizzi will contribute to the day's atmosphere. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant day filled with rhythm, energy, and deep connections through sound.
On Sunday, the stage will be graced by multi-award-winning musician Nitin Sawhney, along with pop-soul artist Poppy Ajudha and spoken-word performer Joshua Idehen. The Leeds-based ten-member group TC & the Groove Family will mix Afrobeats, breakbeat, jazz, highlife, and hip-hop, and Bradford native Kenzo Jae will blend indie and punk with classic hip-hop.
Soul artist Summer Pearl will perform, alongside Indo-jazz pioneer Sarathy Korwar and alt-soul singer Tawiah, as well as sets from DJs MUSYS and DJ Lubi. This event will celebrate sound system culture, creative expression, and local pride.
Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director of Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, remarks, “Summer Sounds is a venue where legendary pioneers share the spotlight with emerging voices, combining international trailblazers with local talent. We welcome everyone to join us for this diverse event, highlighting my hometown of Keighley in the Bradford district and embracing the Summer Sounds.”
The Dialled In team expresses their enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled to partner with Bradford 2025 during this pivotal year for the city. Curating a lineup that connects different generations and genres has always been fundamental to Dialled In, and bringing an icon like Asha Puthli – whose impact spans various continents and decades – to Summer Sounds is truly a dream.
