* * *
Established by the husband-and-wife duo Tina and Matt Baione, Keep Good Company Records is an artist-centric label rooted in the Hudson Valley, dedicated to timeless music and intentional collaboration. Launched in 2022 with the discovery of singer/songwriter Ginger Winn, the label has fostered a close-knit group of artists including Winn, America’s Got Talent star Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti, and versatile artist Tomás Tomás. Initially starting as a creative consultancy, it has transformed into a hands-on label where co-writing sessions, music video productions, and late-night brainstorming take place under one roof—often literally, as the Baiones frequently work from their home. With a strong belief in nurturing both trust and talent, they have shaped pivotal moments in their artists' careers, featuring Winn’s albums STOP-MOTION and Freeze Frame, surprise duets at the San Gennaro Feast, and exciting film collaborations stemming from music video sets. Their approach is heartfelt, adaptive, and personal.
From co-writing and creative directing to film production and zine-making, the Baiones are crafting an environment where art, family, and integrity flourish together. With Winn now spearheading her own production imprint, Valentinetti entering a new chapter of original music, and Tomás gearing up for his debut release, Keep Good Company continues to expand without straying from its core values. We spoke with them to further discuss their mission—and it's evident that they truly do foster good company.
A CONVERSATION WITH KEEP GOOD COMPANY RECORDS
Atwood Magazine: Let’s begin with the origins: What motivated you to create Keep Good Company Records, and how did it develop into a full-fledged label?
Keep Good Company started as a creative consultancy primarily focused on branding. Although we always wanted to produce a record, we didn’t have a concrete plan until we discovered Ginger, which led us to launch the label.
What’s the origin of the name Keep Good Company? How does it reflect your values or mission as a label?
We displayed a page in our apartment from the Picture Book by John Derian that repeatedly presented the phrase “Keep Good Company," reminiscent of an elementary school punishment on a chalkboard. When brainstorming names, we sought one that embodied thoughtful collaboration, and after nights of brainstorming and word associations, we looked up and found it.
Who are the current artists on your roster, and what attracted you to them? What types of music or voices are you most passionate about promoting?
Ginger Winn – our first and forever creative partner. She started as a stranger online, evolved into a collaborator, lived with us for a while, and is now family. Besides being a remarkable artist, songwriter, and musician with a uniquely captivating voice, she is also genuine, trustworthy, and kind. We are incredibly proud to work with her and to see the woman she has become over the past year.
Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti – We were introduced to Sal through our mutual friend Rosemarie Sparacio, who co-directed the video for Averna from Ginger’s debut album. Sal performs standards from the Great American Songbook, gained a Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum on America’s Got Talent, and ultimately finished in second place that season. His voice is often likened to a modern-day Sinatra. Since his released music primarily consists of covers, we proposed introducing some original works. Starting with one song, this collaboration has developed into something much larger. He performed with Ginger at the San Gennaro Feast in Little Italy last year and again at the Albion Hotel in Summit, NJ.
Tomás Tomás – After vowing not to sign another artist, we met Tomás Tomás (Tom Fattorusso) on the set of Ginger’s 8:48 video, where he was an assistant director. We later attended a private concert where he shared some unreleased music that we all, including Ginger, fell in love with. His music and style resonate with us, and he contributed to Ginger’s album Freeze Frame through production, mixing, and backing vocals, adding the finishing touches to her remarkable work. We’re working to finalize his music now, so stay tuned. Tomás recently acted alongside Jaeden Martell in the short film “Out of Body” and with Anna from the North in “The Isdal Man,” which marks Gus Dapperton’s directorial debut.
