Welsh multi-talented artist Greta Isaac has released a new single titled ‘MOVIE STAR’, which is the second track to be unveiled ahead of her forthcoming extended play ‘Dolly Zoom’ set to drop on August 8th.
This new chapter for Isaac, led by her Dolly Zoom persona, takes her deeper into the realm of electronic pop. It marks a clear departure from her previous project ‘Productive Pain’, which was a more stripped-down endeavor rooted in folk and traditional singer-songwriter styles.
‘MOVIE STAR’ offers two minutes of club-inspired enjoyment. Isaac strikes a balance between being casual and daring, showcasing expressive vocals over a beat reminiscent of Bodyrox, deBasement, and COBRAH. It's catchy, sassy, and highlights Isaac’s versatility as an artist: she effortlessly transitions between indie-folk, pop, and this new phase.
The track also features one of this year's most unconventional moments in pop: a brief interlude where someone asks Isaac/Dolly Zoom to speak for herself, to which she replies, “I once put my hamster in the microwave…” This reflects the whimsical and irreverent world she is creating, one that embraces fun and playful attitudes.
Greta Isaac will perform at London’s OMEARA on September 3rd.
