Just a few weeks after their successful performance at Glastonbury 2025, Wolf Alice has released another track from their upcoming album, ‘The Clearing’. Following the album's dynamic lead single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, which debuted in May, their new song ‘The Sofa’ perfectly displays a different aspect of their musical style. This reflective piece explores transitioning from the hectic chaos that often characterizes your 20s to a more assured and content phase of life. ‘The Sofa’ features beautiful piano melodies that build up to a chilling crescendo. Ellie Rowsell of the band remarked, “It’s about not overthinking everything, reflecting on aging, and not stressing over what has or hasn’t occurred in your life. It’s also about reconciling the contrasting elements of being in a band. After a massive tour, you return home and have dinner on the sofa. For me, it’s reflected in my relationship with TV—there was a time I wouldn’t watch the same show twice because I felt I had so much to explore! Now, I'm fine with rewatching Peep Show for the thirteenth time.” Along with ‘The Sofa’, the band has released a music video directed by Fiona Jane Burgess, filmed in the sunny streets of North London. The result is a dreamy, yet intimate portrayal of the area where the album was created. Their recent tracks are from their upcoming fourth album, ‘The Clearing’, which is set to be released on August 22 via their new label, Sony Music. The album was written in North London’s Seven Sisters and recorded in LA with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin, serving as a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’, a record praised by DIY as “a historical document of a band at the height of their abilities.” Additionally, the band has announced a major UK and Ireland tour planned for late 2025—see their upcoming live dates below.
