Sydney Minsky Sargeant has released a new solo track titled ‘Long Roads’.
The artist is primarily recognized for his significant role in Working Men’s Club, but he is venturing into solo territory with an upcoming album. Scheduled for release on September 12th through Domino, ‘Lunga’ reflects on influential artists like Bill Callahan and Nick Drake, among others.
The new song ‘Long Roads’ evokes the Yorkshire landscapes that shaped his youth, featuring guitars that oscillate between pastoral, Bert Jansch-inspired finesse and gritty tones reminiscent of the Palace Brothers.
Available now, it’s truly a gem, with lyrics that embrace the mantra-like essence of the title, seeking to establish a semblance of equilibrium in his life. Sydney Minsky Sargeant remarks…
“I don’t want to come off as overly sentimental, but this album allowed me to realize that it’s perfectly fine to express love in a song because it’s a genuine feeling that I’m not ashamed to acknowledge. At the same time, it’s also acceptable to admit when I’ve made mistakes and that I’m not a flawless individual. I’m simply navigating each day trying to understand the world around me.”
