As the frontman passes away...
Black Sabbath has come together to honor Ozzy Osbourne.
The metal icon passed away on the night of July 22nd, having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019. Despite his frail condition, Ozzy managed to carry out his massive all-star farewell concert just weeks ago at Villa Park in his cherished Birmingham alongside Black Sabbath.
In an official statement, Ozzy Osbourne’s family expressed, “It is with a sadness that words cannot adequately express that we must announce the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne this morning. He was surrounded by family and love.”
Black Sabbath simply stated: “Ozzy forever!”
Guitarist Tony Iommi shared a touching tribute to his bandmate:
"I can’t believe it! My dear friend Ozzy has left us just weeks after our performance at Villa Park. This news is utterly heartbreaking; there will never be another like him. Geezer, Bill, and I have lost our brother. My thoughts are with Sharon and the entire Osbourne family. Rest in peace, Oz."
Geezer Butler reminisced about their final performance together: “Goodbye, dear friend – thank you for all those years – we shared so many wonderful moments. Four kids from Aston – who would’ve imagined, right? I’m so glad we got to do it one last time in Aston. Love you.”
Drummer Bill Ward posted an early photo of the two, saying: “Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls; you will forever be in my heart. My deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. Rest in peace. Sincere sympathies to all the fans. It’s never goodbye. Thank you eternally.”
