Nottingham quartet Divorce has followed their praised debut album ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’, released a few months back through Gravity/Capitol, with a new track titled ‘O Calamity’, which is actually quite old. Co-vocalist and guitarist Tiger Cohen-Towell revealed, “‘O Calamity’ was written six years ago. I remember that the vocals for the first verse and chorus came to me while I was on a shift at the bar where I worked, which is a pretty typical way that I start writing songs even now. At the time, Felix and I were using a different name, so we worked on and arranged it together.” Regarding why now is the right moment to release this delicate song, they added, “We’ve always thought it was a beautiful song and kept it in our collection of material, but we didn’t put it on the album simply because of how long ago it was written. It feels like a good time to share it, so here it is: a glimpse into our past written by us, just shy of being teenagers when we created it. It seems like a distant memory, but great songs never age.” Check out the intimate video for ‘O Calamity’ below, featuring a collage of heartwarming moments from the band’s recent tours.
