Sprints release previews of their new tracks ‘Rage’ and ‘Beg’

Irish punk band Sprints has made their return with not one, but two new singles, both taken from their upcoming second album ‘All That Is Over,’ set to release on 26th September through City Slang / Sub Pop. Following their explosive comeback with ‘Descartes’ last month, the group has now unveiled ‘Rage’ and ‘Beg’—two intense tracks targeting the systems that fail to protect marginalized communities, as well as the politicians who perpetuate harm. Vocalist and guitarist Karla Chubb commented on ‘Rage,’ stating, “These days, it seems easier to be angry than to promote change. People are worn out and disillusioned—it’s understandable, but we shouldn’t place blame on those who are already marginalized. We live among false prophets and empty promises; it's crucial we call them out. We must not allow our anger to fuel the fire and cause harm to us all.”

As for ‘Beg,’ it was “originally inspired by a line from a poem by Vladimir Holan” and was “partly written as a joke, in response to the question, ‘Is Karla Jesus?’ that appeared on a moodboard during our music video brainstorming sessions.” She elaborated: “It’s playful and satirical, poking fun at how often those in power preach their moral codes while committing serious wrongs themselves. Meanwhile, the communities under attack simply strive to live and exist. The song delves into themes of self, sexuality, desire, ambition, as well as my own flaws and the ongoing struggle for self-improvement.”

You can view the videos for both tracks, which feature drag queens Kiki Cult and Hansun Lamb giving their best ‘lairy bloke’ performances, below. Following the release of their 2024 debut ‘Letter To Self,’ Sprints has been on a relentless touring schedule. To celebrate the launch of ‘All That Is Over,’ they have more shows lined up.
