pôt-pot will unveil their debut album ‘Warsaw 480km’ on September 19th.
The band originates from Cork City and its surrounding areas, but the musicians made their way to Lisbon, becoming part of the vibrant creative scene there.
Their sound features drone-heavy psychedelics paired with elements of intense avant-garde rock, drawing inspiration from bands like Suicide, Spacemen 3, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre.
The debut album ‘Warsaw 480km’ will be released on September 19th through Felte, with pôt-pot offering a captivating new single ‘Sextape’ as a preview.
With a minimalist style, ‘Sextape’ allows each component to find its rightful place; the lysergic sounds are balanced by a confident, cohesive purpose, with the textured audio residing comfortably in the lo-fi realm.
Lead vocalist Mark Waldron-Hyden shares...
This track emerged from a spontaneous jam among us, rather than being solely written by me like the other songs. Elaine jokingly named it when we first saved the phone recording, and despite attempts to give it a different title, we couldn't find one that fit.
What was wonderful about this track was that the guys crafted their parts but entrusted me to shape the song as I saw fit, which meant a lot to me. The title stayed because it essentially came from a deep trust among us, akin to what is needed to create a sextape — that intimate trust that whatever contributions each person makes will be respected, although that might be a retrospective perspective.
The lyrics also explore themes of trust between individuals—a quiet, unspoken acknowledgment of each other's quirks with the line “You don’t have to say what you are, I already know” repeated throughout.
Tune in now.
