A few months after presenting her live demo 'Thin', Nell Mescal has released her first official single of 2025. Additionally, 'Carried Away' marks her debut official release with her new label, Atlantic Records. The track was recorded in Brooklyn during recent recording sessions with producer Philip Weinrobe, known for his work with artists like Adrianne Lenker, Billie Marten, and Cass McCombs. According to Nell, the warm and inviting 'Carried Away' is about seeking reassurance from someone in a tumultuous relationship and feeling let down by their response. Instead of reciprocating love, they admit they just got carried away. Regarding the recording process, she noted, “The demo versus the finished version is so different, and it was exhilarating to bring it to life in the studio. I played it solo with just my guitar for the band, and after one play, everyone chimed in, making the direction clear. Philip suggested some fantastic ideas, including a lyrical change in the second pre-chorus. He had the whole band repeat one section while I wrote as fast as I could, which really enhanced the song.” Her new single comes after a busy summer filled with festival performances, with a few shows still ahead.
