A tribute to the Amazigh people of North Africa...
Guedra Guedra has unveiled a new single titled ‘Tamayyurt’.
The musician’s upcoming album ‘MUTANT’ delves into various aspects of North African culture, fusing it with forward-thinking electronic production. A notable project, it is initiated by the new single ‘Tamayyurt’, an evocative piece whose title translates to ‘full moon’.
The producer, whose real name is Abdellah M. Hassak, draws inspiration from the Amazigh people of North Africa, aiming to integrate some of their traditions with a glimpse into the electronic realm.
Traditional instruments, such as the bowed string instrument known as the rebab, combine with electronic rhythms, as Guedra Guedra intersects his approach with a dance music collective named Ahwach.
“‘Tamayyurt’ serves as not only a homage to a beloved tradition but also a transformation of it,” Abdellah states. “It celebrates cultural heritage, embodying the joy and unity experienced during celebratory occasions like weddings, the new harvest season, or warmly welcoming guests.”
