After announcing their sixth album ‘Double Infinity’ in June, Big Thief has gifted us with two singles from the upcoming LP: ‘Grandmother’ and ‘Los Angeles’. The first track, ‘Grandmother’, is the first collaboration from the entire trio and features multi-instrumentalist Laraaji on backing vocals and zither. In this song, Adrianne Lenker reflects on intricate family dynamics, contemplating the strong ties—both positive and negative—that connect generations. On the other hand, ‘Los Angeles’ serves as a profound love song that examines how a partner can transform into a friend; while the romantic relationship may end, the bond can still adapt and persist. Scheduled for release on September 5 via 4AD, ‘Double Infinity’ will follow Big Thief’s 2022 album ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’, including nine tracks (which feature previously released singles ‘Incomprehensible’ and ‘All Night All Day’). Listen to ‘Grandmother’ and ‘Los Angeles’ below. Additionally, Big Thief will celebrate the launch of ‘Double Infinity’ with a tour this Autumn, performing across the US and Mexico.
