Less than a year after the release of her second album, ‘Everybody Needs A Hero,’ the multifaceted Orla Gartland has unexpectedly launched a special documentary that illustrates the album's production process. The 20-minute behind-the-scenes video, filmed at Middle Farm Studios where the album was created, was directed, shot, graded, and edited by Emily Marcovecchio. Orla shared, “My friend Em joined us in the studio to capture moments of us recording ‘Everybody Needs a Hero,’ my second full-length album. Documenting both the significant and minor moments of the process felt essential, even for my own purpose – after dedicating so much effort to something, the entire experience can seem surreal, so I enjoyed rewatching it. I take immense pride in this record; I challenged myself to create something that reflected my state of mind at that time in my life, and with the support of my talented friends, I believe I achieved that.” This documentary comes after an eventful summer for the Dublin singer, which included performing at numerous festivals, supporting Glass Animals on tour, and releasing a new track ‘Now What?’ (from the album's extended edition) in April. Additionally, she received an Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for the album track ‘Mine.’ Watch the documentary below, and take a look at our review of the album beneath the video!
