Steve Gunn has released his new album ‘Music For Writers’.
This album marks the esteemed guitarist's first solo instrumental venture, arising from a wish to explore some of his aesthetic roots.
Created across several cities – Brooklyn, Berlin, Latvia – Steve Gunn incorporated guitar and synth, alongside field recordings and the natural reverberation of the spaces he used.
Now available on the ever-relevant Three Lobed Recordings, it offers a meditative experience that gradually captivates. Often focusing on the unexpected, it oscillates between meticulously crafted musicality and spontaneous improvisation, with Steve Gunn transitioning between various facets of his artistry.
In a personal note, the guitarist mentions that ‘Music For Writers’ “represents a significant element of my practice—one that emphasizes atmosphere over traditional song structures. I aspire for it to provide something subtle yet constant: a foundation for contemplation, a partner for work, daydreaming, mourning, joy, sorrow, or merely a refuge to unwind.”
