EDEN is an artist who defies easy classification. Operating well outside conventional genre boundaries, this multi-talented Dublin native traverses various styles, limited only by his unique electronic artistry.
His 2022 album ‘ICYMI’ captured the producer’s thoughts and emotions with a clear sense of purpose.
The new album ‘Dark’ sees EDEN exploring broader themes, aiming to resonate with the fragmented cultural atmosphere of the early 2020s. Spanning 13 tracks, the record is both deeply personal and stylistically unpredictable—blending pop songwriting with experimental electronics, oscillating between melodic clarity and moody ambient soundscapes.
Maintaining his elusive and mysterious persona, EDEN delves into his new album ‘Dark’ in this insightful track-by-track overview.

STILL
This song began as a vast ambient piece but quickly evolved from its original concept, effectively remixing itself.
The essence of the initial idea remained. It felt like a statement of purpose. “I know it’s dark but it helps” formed the core of the track from the start. It helps // it’s hell. Present in both aspects: violent and beautiful, healing while inflicting pain.
ZZZ
The inception of ZZZ was the chorus line, “it’s your loss, your loss, your loss.” The pain of giving so much to someone who doesn’t return the sentiment is palpable. Feeling undervalued leads us to confront two choices: relying on external validation or seeking an escape. This song embraces the indifference of walking away, observing the hurt from a detached perspective.
However, it’s crucial to recognize our role in this situation. We seek a feeling that isn’t there, convincing ourselves of its existence. Like an earlier working title (yOUR LOSS) suggested, this track highlights the irony that while they might miss what I was trying to offer, I'm left unfulfilled as well.
TEAM
Love in the digital age emphasizes that separation and closeness can coexist. Seeking depth through a pixelated medium involves learning to trust despite uncertainty and putting one’s heart back out there. Everyone is always watching, yet no one truly cares. Information endures, but it is quickly forgotten.
PARIS, TEARGAS
This song contemplates what happiness looks like from a distance. What are the good and bad outcomes? “Protect me from what I want.”
After writing the main repeated verse, I underwent multiple revisions—a stream of consciousness expressing disappointment from both the world and myself. It dances through moments of hope, dreamlike aspirations, and stark realities. With a bruised ego, heart, and trust, it circles back to the realization that change begins only with oneself.
GHOST IN THE SHELL
Ghost in the Shell was born during my 2023 tour. Inspired by William Basinski’s themes of destructive looping, it features a production style reminiscent of Burial. The chopped hook was the first element created—a distorted plea for an absent love.
Flashes of life and nostalgia weave through memories, connected by a singular theme: you can dream, but you cannot touch.
TRUE
A meditation on love, most of True was crafted after a lengthy period of disconnection and completed later during a surge of reconnection. It served as a manifesto, a pledge to myself and my beliefs. I grew weary of justifying my existence and role in various dynamics.
The truest form of love can only be beyond explanation. “I just do.” While we can rationalize anything, love defies logic. Love brings tears but also offers solace.
5EVER
I was in tears while recording the bridge of this song. Sometimes, we need an outlet to access parts of ourselves that are closed off—a role akin to a violent antagonist, a stalker, or a villain. A familiar narrative reshuffled, leaving us bloody and injured from the outset. The core of the matter is that even if we survive, what existed before is irretrievably lost. Survival equates to loss.
Yet, despite the turmoil, I would have willingly stayed.
LIGHT SLEEPER
I often reflect on interdependence. This song fundamentally interrogates attachment and insecurities, revealing a tendency to give more to others than they do in return. Altruism can lead to self-erasure. My darkest times were when I felt utterly alone—the kind of solitude where you can’t rely even on yourself, having expended all energy for someone other than you.
This piece explores various support systems—friends, love, community, art—and ultimately reaches a point of acceptance. I acknowledge my feelings and will seek out what nourishes me.
(COLD WATER FREESTYLE)
Originally an ambient interlude accompanied by some voiceovers, this music transformed into its present form through an impromptu freestyle session in Los Angeles with friends.
For me, this track symbolizes hope—an optimistic reminder that although life may feel cyclical, each orbit is unique. We never truly return to the same starting point
