Houston-bred creative talent Shreea Kaul has released her full album ‘Cruel Intentions’.
The singer has developed a distinctive sound that blends elements of her Indian heritage with modern R&B influences. Echoing SZA’s love for personal storytelling in some tracks, you can easily envision those childhood days spent watching the latest Bollywood movies.
Viral hits like ‘Tere Bina’ and ‘Crooked Salesman’ have garnered her a substantial cult following, with the recent track ‘Hungama’ serving as an introduction to the album as a whole.
Imbuing her work with a rich emotional quality, Shreea Kaul skillfully manipulates R&B conventions to create a truly unique sound. She shares:
“My culture is a significant part of my identity and is thus a key element of my music. Indian culture is incredibly rich – from the clothing to the music to the history – it is filled with vibrant color and depth. I want my music to showcase the innate talent and magic of my heritage to the world.”
The new album ‘Cruel Intentions’ is now available – a remarkable work showcasing her individuality, Shreea refuses to suppress her brilliance, allowing it to shine against the shadows.
Regarding the album, Shreea states:
“I made this album to narrate my experiences in love and life up to this point. It’s a coming-of-age project that illustrates how stepping into adulthood has led to realizations that transformed a once hopeful girl into a disillusioned woman hardened by life’s harsh realities. It’s constructed like a movie plot – listeners are introduced to an innocent protagonist and witness her evolution into a more complex character through the flow of each song, exploring themes of youth, dreams, love, heartbreak, and acceptance.”
