Only The Poets have announced a special show at the O2 Academy Brixton.
The quartet from Reading has grown their fan base through extensive touring, grassroots engagement, and a continuous flow of impactful releases.
They recently revealed their highly anticipated debut album ‘And I’d Do It Again,’ set to release on January 30th, 2026. Just a few days later, on February 2nd, they will make history as the first band to headline London’s O2 Academy Brixton with tickets priced at only £1, making a significant statement about accessibility in live music.
This symbolic ticket price reflects their very first performance from seven years ago, which also had a £1 entry fee, emphasizing their dedication to the fans who have supported their grassroots journey. “We charged £1 for our first gig,” recalls frontman Tommy Longhurst. “At that time, we only had a few songs, so any higher price felt excessive. We wouldn't have been able to attend half the concerts we did if tickets were priced like they are now, so we wanted to ensure this show was open to everyone.”
Bassist Clem Cherry adds, “Our fans know that our shows are a safe space. This is about ensuring that anyone can attend and have an unforgettable evening in a legendary venue.”
In addition to the Brixton concert, the band plans to donate an extra £1 per ticket to the LIVE Trust, which supports small venues and the grassroots scene that has contributed to their success. “Making this show accessible for all means that everyone can share in the communal and emotional experiences,” states LIVE Trust CEO Jon Collins.
The £1 event follows the launch of their daring 14-track album, created in the wake of heartbreak and blending sparkling ’80s synths, soaring melodies, and raw, honest lyrics. The single ‘Saké’ will be released tomorrow, providing a first look into an album that encapsulates the intensity, ambition, and sincerity that has propelled Only The Poets to become one of the UK’s most thrilling emerging bands.
