The Welsh Music Prize has announced its nominees for 2025, featuring unique art-rock band Melin Melyn, emerging punk group Panic Shack, and electronic artist Kelly Lee Owens among others. Now in its 15th year, the award aims to highlight the finest Welsh artists and albums from the past year, showcasing the depth and diversity of Wales’ dynamic music scene. Last year's prize was awarded to L E M F R E C K for his ambitious three-part album from 2023, ‘Blood, Sweat & Fears’. This year, 15 artists from various genres have been recognized as nominees; in addition to those previously mentioned, notable contenders include Gwenno, Adwaith, and Don Leisure, all vying for the award and a £10,000 cash prize. The winner will be revealed on Monday, October 6th, during a ceremony led by Radio 1’s Sian Eleri at the Wales Millennium Centre, with highlights available for viewing on BBC One Wales and BBC iPlayer.
