Sprints are back with another preview from their forthcoming second album ‘All That Is Over’, set to be released on 26th September through City Slang/Sub Pop. The new track ‘Better’ showcases a shift from their typical aggressive garage rock to a slower but equally impactful sound, drawing influences from My Bloody Valentine and Amyl and The Sniffers’ ‘Big Dreams’. Vocalist and guitarist Karla Chubb describes the song as one that “sounds like a love song but isn’t,” noting that it’s an old demo that members Sam McCann and Zac Stephenson proposed revisiting. The song explores the idea “not of liking someone better, but only appreciating them when they’re at their best.” Additionally, the track comes with an emotive, monochrome visualizer directed by Niamh Bryson, which depicts a character grappling with the aftermath of a breakup. Bryson said, “When I first heard ‘Better’, I couldn’t help but connect with it. The heartbreak, the intimacy, and the vulnerability. The slower tempo encourages reflection on a time when someone made you feel these emotions. I instantly wanted to channel that feeling into a narrative that resonates with the deeply personal yet universal experience of heartbreak.” You can watch it here: By our assessment, Sprints rank among the best live acts around. Don’t just take our word for it—experience them live at one of their upcoming tour dates.
