Fresh off her successful performance as a headliner at this year's End of the Road festival, Self Esteem, known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor, has unveiled a new self-directed video for her song ‘The Curse’. This track, which explores the dual nature of social interactions, is featured on her latest album ‘A Complicated Woman’. The raw visuals depict Rebecca navigating through life’s various highs and lows—ranging from flat parties and botox appointments to hungover mornings and doom-scrolling—all captured through the perspective of a laptop. Rebecca remarked on the video, “This song is about being shyer than I realized, and I put my directing hat back on for this one. A big thank you to the amazing cast and crew for being so fantastic and willing to participate in my quirky ideas,” adding that it features many of her closest friends and chosen family. The release of the new video comes ahead of her forthcoming headline tour in the UK and Ireland, starting later this month, which will include support from her album collaborators Moonchild Sanelly and Nadine Shah. Additionally, Rebecca will publish her debut book, also titled A Complicated Woman, on October 30 through Octopus Books / Hachette. Below are her upcoming tour dates, along with the video for ‘The Curse’.
