Lexa Gates Unveils Upcoming Album ‘I AM’

      It highlights the recent single 'Past It'.

      24-year-old rapper, singer, and producer Lexa Gates has announced her highly anticipated sophomore album, 'I Am', set to release this Autumn.

      The announcement comes a week after the drop of the Queens artist’s latest single 'Past It', which serves as the first glimpse of her new era. Produced by Emilie Haynie (known for her work with Lana Del Rey, Kid Cudi, and FKA Twigs), the dreamy, groove-infused track explores the disconnect between success and satisfaction with a playful, lo-fi bounce.

      Lexa reflects on her rapidly rising career and the creative burnout that accompanies it, rapping: “The future seems so far ‘til you’re past it.”

      This year, Lexa also released ‘Latency’, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jasper Harris (notable for his work with Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X) and Aaron Shadrow (who has worked with Doja Cat and Yeat).

      This follows her acclaimed debut album, ‘Elite Vessel’, a 12-track project that delves into themes of self-discovery, resilience, and ambition. The album includes collaborations with Alé Araya, Zelooperz, and Billy Lemos.

      The album announcement follows Lexa’s inaugural festival tour, which featured notable performances at the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, the Jazz Café Festival in the UK, and Outside Lands in San Francisco.

      Her performance at the Jazz Café received acclaim from CLASH, who described her as “prolific… effortlessly gliding between tracks punctuated by her dry humor, she had London in the palm of her hand, winning over new fans with each bar.”
