London-based experimental group Web has revealed details about their debut EP.
The four-member band offers an intriguing live experience, with their songwriting swiftly transitioning from one idea to another. In the studio, Web condenses their lengthy jams into abstract compositions, thereby challenging traditional definitions.
Produced by Soren Bryce and Daniel Huddlestone, Web’s self-titled debut EP is set to be released on October 17th via the esteemed label Practise Music (known for Squid, Blue Bendy, and deep tan).
Guitarist Lucas Eveleigh comments on the EP:
Each track conveys a distinct and individual narrative, but collectively they create a larger picture – a sort of doomsday imagery featuring spaceships crashing into the sun, sinking vessels, and apocalyptic news reports, culminating in a vocal booth psychotic breakdown.
Web is scheduled to hold an EP launch event at The Greyhound in London on October 21st and has released a captivating, multi-dimensional single titled ‘Titanic’.
Lucas Eveleigh further elaborates on the single:
‘Titanic’ originated during a jam session. We felt that Kristian’s deep bass line resembled waves crashing against a ship, and when paired with the sharp, alarm-like guitar riff, it evoked the final moments of the Titanic.
We developed the song around that imagery – capturing the chaotic intensity of the alarms, the unsettling calm before the impending, devastating sinking scene at the conclusion. At the time of writing, we were living between Portsmouth and Southampton – the departure point of the Titanic. Having grown up near the docks and the sea, it was only natural for these elements to emerge in our music at some point.
Tune in now.
