Earlier this month, Jimmy Kimmel Live was taken off the air by ABC after Kimmel commented on the murder of Charlie Kirk.
The far-right activist was shot in the neck and killed on September 10th at Utah Valley University, leading to a flurry of theories in the hours that followed.
Kimmel sought to critique the deflection tactics of right-wing commentators while others highlighted the shooter’s connections to MAGA. He remarked, “the MAGA group [were] attempting to frame this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of their own, and are doing everything possible to gain political leverage from it.”
These remarks incited outrage from the American right, resulting in ABC suspending the show.

Olivia Rodrigo joined in denouncing the decision by resharing a prior statement from SAG-AFTRA on her IG Stories and adding: “I’m so upset about this blatant censorship and abuse of power. I stand with Jimmy Kimmel and I stand for freedom of speech.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live is expected to return to the air this week.
