Mo Chara of Kneecap is Released – All Charges Dismissed

Following a "technical error" from the prosecution,

The charges against Kneecap rapper Mo Chara have been dismissed after a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court.

During the hearing, the rapper, whose actual name is Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, had the charges against him thrown out due to a “technical error” in how the allegations were presented.

Last year, Kneecap performed at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London, where Mo Chara was reportedly seen waving a flag with the emblem of the designated group Hezbollah on stage.

Terrorist accusations were levied against Mo Chara, which have shadowed Kneecap throughout the year.

He was scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court before the hearing was moved to Woolwich Crown Court in London.

Now released, Kneecap will issue an official statement soon.

Sinn Fein leader Michelle O’Neill expressed her support for the news, stating: “I strongly welcome this decision. These charges were part of a deliberate effort to silence those who voice opposition to the Israeli genocide in Gaza."

"Kneecap has utilized their platform on stages worldwide to shed light on this genocide, and it is our collective duty to continue speaking out against injustice in Palestine."

John Finucane MP remarked: “The prosecution against Kneecap’s Mo Chara has been dismissed. This was never about justice; it was aimed at silencing those who denounce Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its accomplices. Today, those who stand on the right side of history have triumphed. Free Palestine!”
