LA via Miami duo Magdalena Bay has returned with two new tracks, described as the “spiritual successors” to their 2024 breakthrough LP ‘Imaginal Disk’. The initial song, ‘Second Sleep’, is a genre-blending piece filled with orchestral elements and Mica Tenenbaum’s unique vocals (think a mix of Tame Impala and later Arctic Monkeys). The B-side of the double single, ‘Star Eyes’, presents a hazy and reflective soundscape reminiscent of a Disney dream sequence. The band shared, “’Second Sleep’ and ‘Star Eyes’ are two songs we created towards the end of ‘Imaginal Disk’ – both serve as a spiritual successor to the album’s ambiance and emotional journey. We feel they enhance one another, so we are releasing them together.” In addition to their new music, Magdalena Bay is about to launch an album film to mark the first anniversary of ‘Imaginal Disk’, which will delve into themes from the videos of ‘Death & Romance’, ‘Image’, and ‘That’s My Floor’, as well as their immersive live performance. More information on that will be available soon – in the meantime, be sure to listen to ‘Second Sleep’ and ‘Star Eyes’ below. The band also has an extensive tour planned across North America (September and October) and the UK/Europe (next February). Check out the full schedule of their live shows here:
