The progressive K-pop collective Balming Tiger and Seoul-based artist Yaeji collaborate on a new double single titled ‘wo ai ni / break it even’.
This double single reflects over a year of creative collaboration between Seoul and New York, stemming from the mutual admiration shared by Yaeji and Balming Tiger. Both artists emphasized the significance of working directly together, valuing connection, communication, and shared experiences over mere efficiency.
Their partnership blossomed through everyday moments, such as visiting Nakwon Instrument Arcade (the largest musical instrument exhibition complex in the world) and enjoying kimbap and noodles together.
‘wo ai ni’ conveys a message of pure, unfiltered love—a sentiment that crosses language and geographic boundaries. Balming Tiger and Yaeji elaborate on the simple phrase “I love you,” presenting it in various languages and dedicating the track to their fans.
‘break it even’ reflects on the essential role of human connection in achieving true understanding, with Yaeji singing, “In our communication, there’s a missing person; when we’re physical bodies, I see you more clearly.”
The release includes a music video for ‘wo ai ni’, directed by Balming Tiger member Jan’ Qui and featuring footage submitted by fans—a first in the collective’s history to include fans in their visuals.
Tune in now.
