After seven years since her last album, the iconic London singer Lily Allen has announced the release of her long-awaited fifth album. Entitled ‘West End Girl’, which reflects her upbringing in West London, this new full-length album is set to come out later this week on Friday, October 24th, through BMG. It follows her 2018 Mercury Prize-nominated album ‘No Shame’ and marks her first new music since her performances in various stage productions, including 2:22 A Ghost Story, The Pillowman, and most recently, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 play, Hedda. Lily expressed her feelings about returning to music, saying, “I’m nervous. The record is vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before – certainly not across an entire album. I’ve aimed to chronicle my life in a new city and the experiences that have shaped my current situation. Simultaneously, I’ve utilized shared experiences as inspiration for songs that explore why humans act the way we do, making the album a blend of fact and fiction that I hope highlights both our resilience and fragility. In that sense, it’s very much an album focused on the complexities of relationships and how we navigate them. It tells a story…” Allen’s new album consists of fourteen tracks, and the tracklisting has been shared via an Instagram post, which you can find below. The songs were written and recorded over an intensive ten-day period in Los Angeles beginning in December 2024 with her musical director, Blue May, and were later completed in London and New York, with additional production by Seb Chew and Kito. The album cover art was designed by the renowned Spanish artist, Nieves González. Here’s the ‘West End Girl’ tracklisting:
