A heartfelt and introspective comeback from the beloved group...
The Charlatans venture into a bold new phase with a series of skillfully crafted tracks. Partially recorded at the iconic Rockfield Studios, a location steeped in personal significance for the band, this marks their first return to the studio in nearly three decades, and it is their first studio album since 'Different Days' in 2017.
‘We Are Love’ offers an expansive and euphoric experience, transitioning from the colorful, Beatles-inspired ‘Now Everything’ to the soaring, ethereal title track—a powerful, soulful piece propelled by thunderous percussion and sparkling guitar riffs. The album also features lyrical Easter eggs that reference classic hits such as ‘How High,’ ‘Impossible,’ and ‘Opportunity,’ playfully acknowledging the band’s extensive back catalog.
Instead of leaning on nostalgia, The Charlatans choose to honor their legacy while pushing it forward—transforming familiar sonic elements into something vibrant, intentional, and distinctly fresh. Additional highlights include the sweeping, cinematic grace of ‘You Can’t Push the River’ and the psychedelic-infused pop of ‘Glad You Grabbed Me’—a heartfelt homage to the evolving nature of love and emotional growth. Passionate and contemplative, ‘We Are Love’ encapsulates a band grounded in experience and filled with creative revitalization.
