There's a Noughties influence to her musical expression...
Halifax indie act Ellur has released her latest single ‘The World Is Not An Oyster.’
The talented songwriter recently wrapped up a brief UK tour, performing six sold-out concerts in cities like London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, and Bristol. Featuring a mix of beloved tracks and a taste of new material, Ellur is now poised to move forward.
‘The World Is Not An Oyster’ has a deliberately grand sound, drawing inspiration from her early Noughties CD collection – think Coldplay, Radiohead, and Embrace.
In this track, Ellur narrates the story of a teenage girl striving to make sense of her life. Having experienced her parents' divorce, the Halifax artist understands the pain of teenage insecurity, and – with the collaboration of Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Jack Leonard (UNKLE) – she expresses these emotions prominently in her new single.
Ellur shares…
This is the narrative of a teenage girl trying to understand why love seems so elusive. At 15, my parents divorced, and it felt like my world was shattered; I ended up in a destructive relationship in an attempt to cope. Recording this song was a therapeutic journey after enduring two of the most challenging times in my life.
Inspired by ‘A Rush of Blood to The Head’, ‘The Bends’, Embrace, and the sounds of the early 2000s that defined my childhood. To me, this song feels like home and truly reflects my spirit and soul. If I were to dedicate it, I would dedicate it to my Mum and Dad and the boundless love I have for them.
