Set to release on February 27th, The Wave Pictures have revealed their upcoming album titled ‘Gained / Lost’.
The band captivates with their blend of obscure pop references, literary flair, and sharp humor. Now affiliated with Bella Union, The Wave Pictures are preparing to launch a new album in 2026.
The artwork for ‘Gained / Lost’ is a playful homage to the iconic Rolling Stones album ‘Exile On Main Street’.
The trio will perform a special show at London’s Lexington on December 20th, followed by a comprehensive UK tour scheduled for February and March.
Their latest single ‘Alice’ is available now, featuring delicate indie pop guitar lines paired with lyrics that reference a work by William Burroughs.
The band shares…
“This song draws inspiration from My Education: A Book Of Dreams by William Burroughs, which resembles a dream diary written in a clear, almost hard-boiled style. Alice exists in a dreamlike realm that Burroughs might have termed The Land of the Dead. There is a suggestion of ice cream in a liminal space between life and death, acting as a kind of waiting area. The spirits of all return to the universe.”
“If this were a film, it would be a black-and-white piece directed by David Lynch. The music embodies the open-hearted optimism found in the works of Daniel Johnston or Buddy Holly, while the lyrics present a surreal black-and-white quality amidst a vibrant musical palette.”
