Chloe Slater's 'War Crimes' Represents a Show of Support for Palestine.

Chloe Slater has unveiled a powerful new song titled ‘War Crimes’.

The track has been in development for several months, during which Chloe Slater observed the news with a growing sense of despair. Inspired to respond, 'War Crimes' serves as a testament to Palestinian solidarity.

The lyrics are straightforward, complementing her melodic beauty and pop sensibilities, as Chloe Slater strives to ensure that every word resonates.

“‘War Crimes’ holds significant importance for me. It feels like my first genuine protest song and marks an evolution of the musical direction I’ve been developing through my first two EPs,” Slater shares.

She elaborates on her disillusionment with the British political landscape, stating, “Lyrically, it’s a tribute to those who feel betrayed and disillusioned by the UK Labour government, especially as its principles have shifted increasingly to the right since Keir Starmer took office. I penned the song after witnessing the genocide of Palestinians being broadcast globally, feeling profoundly helpless as our leaders continued to ignore the issue and enable the oppressors. Performing it live and seeing the audience connect emotionally has been incredibly impactful. My hope is that it continues to spark discussions and encourages critical thinking about our world.”

In collaboration with the community, the artwork for her new single was created by Palestinian artist Ahmed Al Da’alsa, who has captured striking images of Gaza amidst the siege.

To support Ahmed and his family, Slater will offer a limited number of t-shirts and tote bags featuring his artwork, with all proceeds going directly to his GoFundMe campaign to assist in relocating them to safety in Egypt. For more information or to purchase, visit Slater’s Bandcamp: HERE.

      Regarding the collaboration, Chloe remarks:

“The artwork for 'War Crimes' is by the remarkable Palestinian artist Ahmed Al Da’alsa. Ahmed has spent his entire life in Gaza, and his art and photographs reflect his daily fight for survival under occupation and the ongoing genocide. It is crucial to uplift the work of Palestinian artists and allow their narratives to be expressed through their own art and words. I am incredibly thankful to Ahmed for permitting me to use one of his pieces for the cover art of 'War Crimes' and I appreciate the opportunity to amplify his work, no matter how modest my platform may be.”
