Brògeal: “we aim to present our sound and cultural identity in a way that promotes unity.”

“We could have easily created an album filled with fast, party tracks, but we aimed to keep listeners on their toes.” — Aidan Callaghan. While the album’s title song pays tribute to the regular patrons of a pub in Falkirk, and other potential anthems like the energetic ‘One For The Ditch’ and the rousing finale ‘Lonesome Boatman’ rev up the energy in the signature Brògeal style, there's also a significant measure of tenderness woven throughout the album, particularly evident in ‘Scarlet Red’, ‘Apples and Leaves’, and the poignant narrative of loss in ‘Go Home Tae Yer Bed’. “We could have easily crafted an album of quick, upbeat songs, but we wanted to keep listeners engaged and highlight what’s next,” Aidan mentions. Luke agrees. “All five of us consume a vast array of art, history, and knowledge, and we sought to channel everything we’ve absorbed into this record. We refuse to settle; we wanted to maintain a broad scope and encapsulate our emotions at that moment—who knows what the next album will sound like?” Regardless of where the band ventures next, their Scottish pride will always be central to their identity. At a time when Britishness is often misappropriated, Brògeal is committed to leveraging their Celtic roots to foster unity rather than division. “We always identify as Scottish before we say we’re British,” Aidan explains, “but we aim to present our sound and cultural identity in a way that brings people together—and we want others to share their cultures with us because that’s what life is about. It’s all about peace, love, and friendship.” As Brògeal continues to grow into a band poised to reach their full potential, their goals are unmistakable. In Aidan’s words, “we aspire to be the best band in the world, but we’re not stressing ourselves over that ambition.”
