Cult underground champions doops have released their latest album, ‘the space between’.
The band tours tirelessly, showcasing their gritty psych-punk sound that remains consistently rebellious. Their style echoes the early records of Queens Of The Stone Age or UK counterparts Maruja, exemplifying their true independence.
The new album ‘the space between’ highlights their distinctive and invigorating sound. Initial recordings were made at Brighton’s Farm Road Studios with emerging engineer Spencer Withey, after which doops took the tapes and finalized the album at home.
This varied collection combines familiar themes present in the band’s music – including their love for science fiction – with an increasingly personal approach to their lyrics.
In a statement, doops share:
Lyrically, the new work transcends purely sci-fi and conspiracy-themed content, welcoming more personal and reflective subjects, while still being conveyed through occasionally metaphorical or surreal perspectives.
In essence, the ten tracks offer a conceptual exploration of the shift from the uncertainty of late-twenties millennials into the burdens of early-thirties adulthood — a phase filled with persistent responsibility, to put it plainly.
A remarkable and inspiring project, ‘the space between’ boldly stands out due to its originality. Listen now.
