A heartfelt comeback from the songwriter...
Australian artist Anna Smyrk has unveiled her new track ‘This Is A Drill.’
The gentle indie-folk musician recently wrapped up a complete headline tour across Australia, using this opportunity to test her new material.
Her debut album ‘Spectacular Denial’ is set to be released next year, on March 20th through Community Music.
‘This Is A Drill’ has already resonated with listeners, telling a poignant story of loss following her father's passing. “After the shows, people have approached me to share their own experiences of loss,” Anna expresses. “It’s as if we can connect in a brief moment of understanding. Ironically, even though the song deals with denial, many find a sense of release in it, which I truly appreciate.”
Capturing a moment of connection, the studio rendition maintains ‘This Is A Drill’ as a minimalist composition, making it even more impactful. Anna explains:
“’This Is A Drill’ addresses my reluctance to confront my emotions. It explores the odd, murky space of denial, where everything feels somewhat surreal, as if normal life unfolds behind a thick curtain, like each day serves as a practice for the genuine experience.”
