Brooklyn's Music Hall Of Williamsburg will cease operations after 2026.
Variety confirmed this information, having acquired an internal memo from the venue indicating that they will not pursue a lease after 2026.
Co-partners Jim Glancy and John Moore of Bowery Presents noted that this decision means Music Hall Of Williamsburg may need to relocate or close; in response to an inquiry from Pitchfork, the team affirmed that the memo is accurate.
A significant component of the Brooklyn music scene, Music Hall Of Williamsburg has been staging live performances for more than twenty years, showcasing emerging talent and fostering the region's vibrant creative community.
“Music Hall of Williamsburg opened during a cultural renaissance in the North Brooklyn area, and we were one of the first music venues to establish a presence there,” Glancy and Moore stated. “We launched the venue and have hosted numerous artists at the very start of their careers, including Mumford and Sons, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Ed Sheeran, Tyler, The Creator, Brandi Carlile, The xx, The Weeknd, Robyn, Disclosure, the War on Drugs, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Phoebe Bridgers, IDLES, Maggie Rogers, Fred again.., Geese, and Audrey Hobert, among others.”
The memo reads: “While we cannot comment on the future of 66 North 6th Street, The Bowery Presents appreciates our time there, the staff who operate the venue night after night, and our shared commitment to artist development. Our dedication to discovering new and exciting spaces for artists and fans to experience the transformative power of live music will persist, as it has since we first crossed the bridge two decades ago.”
