Skye Newman has released her new single ‘Lonely Girl’.

The UK singer has had an outstanding year, having recently sold out the KOKO venue in London after just a few releases. Anticipated to be a major force in 2026, the South London artist wraps up her breakout year with this new track.

‘Lonely Girl’ is available now and was first previewed as an exclusive on a recent Rinse FM show, where Skye spoke with Maya Jama.

Co-written by Skye Newman, Boo, and Luis Navidad, the song explores an age-gap romance while questioning why men often shy away from taking responsibility.

The lyrics aim to hold individuals accountable for their actions and are rooted in personal experience—Skye Newman’s emotive vocals convey deep sincerity and conviction.

She remarks…

The song addresses men who exploit their power by manipulating young girls, taking advantage of their innocence and vulnerability. I feel there isn't enough awareness around the issue of older men forming relationships with school girls, especially given that the age difference can seem inconsequential since women mature earlier than men. This is not acceptable! Young people require both advocates and knowledge. It's crucial to educate them about how predatory behavior may initially appear flattering, as this is the tactic to keep them engaged, allowing these predators to exert control. THIS IS ABUSE! That’s precisely why they target young, innocent children. We need to start acknowledging this for what it truly is.

Every girl I know, myself included, has been approached by much older men while still too young to comprehend the situation. I’ve seen friends become susceptible to such advances, and no girl should have to endure that. Often, it's only when you're older that you recognize just how troubling it really is. Let's ensure that young girls don’t have to wait until they are 30 and traumatized to realize this. If you or someone you know is in this situation, please help them escape.
