"Biffy Clyro Open to the Idea of a Scotland World Cup Anthem"

Biffy Clyro has announced their willingness to compose Scotland’s World Cup anthem, and they have already created the chorus.

The band spoke with CLASH just before Christmas, still celebrating their country’s triumph over Denmark, which secured their qualification for the World Cup 2026.

Scotland will be competing against Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti in a tournament hosted across various North American cities.

CLASH couldn’t help but discuss the tournament and the possibility of a theme song for the Scottish men’s team.

“We will be heading to the States next year for some live performances right before the World Cup, and there’s no way we’re fucking coming back,” joked frontman Simon Neill.

“I would definitely think about it,” he added. “If someone had asked me five years ago, I would have said: no fucking way! I’m not sure if it’s age or what, but… these things matter. So yes, we would think about it. And yes, I’ve got the chorus…”

With a smile, he continued: “’The party’s starting / Cos the tartan’s marching!”

“So that’s brewing as we speak,” he laughed. “It’s a ‘yes’ – we would definitely consider it.”

Biffy Clyro’s James Johnston will take a step back from live performances in 2026, with Naomi Macleod filling in. Don’t miss the band’s huge headline show at Finsbury Park in London on July 3rd.
