Former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson has shared that her twin daughters may never walk because of a muscular disorder.

Jesy welcomed her twin girls – Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster – in May, and stated that they were born prematurely at 31 weeks.

Along with her partner, London-based rapper Zion Foster, the pop star expressed feeling “so blessed” by the girls' arrival.

In a heartfelt video released over the weekend, Jesy Nelson disclosed that her daughters have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), which she referred to as "the most severe muscular disease."

After enduring a challenging three-month stretch filled with continuous appointments, Jesy’s daughters have been determined to have “SMA type 1.”

“It impacts every muscle in the body, including legs, arms, breathing, and swallowing,” she mentioned, adding that both girls were having difficulties with feeding and moving their legs freely.

In a sobering update, Jesy stated: “Basically, it deteriorates the muscles in the body over time, and if not treated promptly, your baby’s life expectancy will not extend beyond the age of two.”

The girls are receiving care at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where doctors have explained that they are “probably never going to be able to walk. They likely will never regain neck strength, resulting in disabilities.”
