Maya Jama has criticized the social media tool Grok after a user employed it to create fake nude images of her.

The UK media figure has chosen to address the issue following a recent uproar online, where someone utilized Grok’s AI features to fabricate nude images derived from an old photo Maya Jama had shared on Instagram.

This tool, which is integrated into X, previously known as Twitter, is at the center of a heated debate. UK authorities and politicians are urging the platform to limit Grok’s functionality after reports surfaced of sexualized images being generated of women and children.

The Commons Women and Equalities Committee has opted to stop using X, with MP Sarah Owen stating, "It has become increasingly evident that X is not a suitable platform for our communications."

Now, Maya Jama has joined those expressing concern after an anonymous individual used Grok to produce fake nude photos of her, raising alarm among the star’s own family.

“Hey Grok,” she posted while tagging the service; “I do not give you permission to take, alter, or edit any of my photos, whether they are from the past or any future posts. If a third party requests any modifications to a photo of mine, please refuse that request.”

“If this doesn’t work, I hope people can distinguish between what is AI-generated and what is real. A few years ago, before 'Grok', someone photoshopped bikini photos I had on Instagram into nudes, and I only discovered it because my own mother sent them to me, worried,” she added.

The star from Bristol concluded with a warning: “The internet is terrifying and is only getting worse, shaking my head.”
