On January 1, 2026, London-born, Maryland-raised artist .idk. unveils a new track titled 'LiFE 4 A LiFE' featuring Pusha T.
Drawing from a mindset first encountered during his incarceration at 17, where he was “surrounded by individuals facing adult charges and life-altering consequences,” ‘LiFE 4 A LiFE’ acts as a thesis for his upcoming mixtape ‘E.T.D.S. – Even the Devil Smiles,’ set for release on January 23rd.
Regarding the song, .idk. explains: "'LiFE 4 A LiFE' reflects a survival-driven way of thinking shaped by retaliation and inherited codes—not to condone it, but to shed light on it. I'm observing a way of thinking, not endorsing it, and demonstrating that perspective and growth are feasible, even for those influenced by the toughest environments. The intention is to foster awareness, empathy, and the idea that more individuals can learn to break free from that cycle."
Discussing his second collaboration with Pusha T, .idk. shares: "I envisioned the song with Pusha T in mind from its completion and sent it to him immediately. He expressed interest, and I allowed it to develop organically. A few months later, just before his Clipse album Let God Sort Em Out was released, he reached out to me. Following our conversation, he sent me a screenshot of his handwritten verse and asked for my email to send it over. Everything fell into place seamlessly."
Drawing inspiration from the immediacy of ’90s and early 2000s mixtape culture, Black expressionism, and .idk.’s own experience with a flawed criminal justice system, ‘E.T.D.S.’ narrates a journey of survival and second chances; it emphasizes both reclamation and reconciliation, supported by his own production and contributions from Madlib, Kaytranada, No I.D., Joey Valence & Brae, Ratboy, Goldie, and Conductor Williams.
